Exceptional Birthing

LaNB Member Rene': Across all cultures and time women have looked to other women for information, encouragement, and support during pregnancy and birth.

Exceptional Birthing, co-sponsored by Red Shoes and facilitated by Birth Help doulas, offers a place where today's women share and explore concepts, philosophies, and techniques supporting natural childbirth. We'll discuss physical, emotional, and spiritual aspects of birthing along with resources for achieving your birth goals.

Women who have had or attempted natural childbirth, as well as pregnant women interested in childbirth and nursing babies are welcome.

Group meets on the 2nd Monday of each month at Red Shoes on Government Street from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. There is no fee, but please register by email: doula@birthhelp.com.

LA_UC
This Group is geared toward Unassisted Childbirth, or UC, however those who join also have an understanding of the many choices women have when it comes to their pregnancy and childbirth options. You may birth unassisted but also have shadow care by an OB or MW, or you may just do your own prenatals. Whatever your choice we accept them.

This group is here to provide you with the information you need to help you in your quest for information about UC births. You will find personal childbirth experiences, as well as others who have had unassisted home births, and more. An unassisted birth is any birth that takes place without the assistance (or even supervision!) of a medical professional, like a doctor, nurse, or midwife. An Unassisted Childbirth (UC) can be planned or unplanned.

In an unassisted childbirth no one acts as a midwife. Instead, the birthing woman herself determines the course of her labor. Partners or friends may participate to varying degrees, but no one instructs the woman as to how to give birth, when to push, what position to be in, etc. Occasionally suggestions may be offered but it is assumed that the woman giving birth is the true expert on her own body.

Unassisted childbirth is empowering for the woman, her partner, and her baby. Women who have given birth with little or no assistance often describe it as the most fulfilling experience of their lives. With no one around to tell them what to do, when to push, or which position to be in, many women find they know how to give birth.

Unassisted childbirth is free!

LA Natural Moms (lanaturalmoms), organized LaNB member Rene'
We are a group of parents who discuss conception, pregnancy, childbirth, feeding and parenting in South Louisiana. Natural and alternative methods are encouraged, but those who choose medical means are not derided or ostracized. We believe that empowering each other to make the right choices for ourselves and our children in our unique situations is the most important purpose we can serve in each other?s lives.

BIRTH_IN_LOUISIANA · Louisiana's Homebirthing Mamas and Papas
A meeting place for all of Louisiana's pregnant and birthing families. We welcome you all from those planning homebirths, natural hospital births, or medicated births, or supporters and advocates of homebirth, VBAC, and hospital birth. We also welcome health care providers, midwives and doulas to our discussions. We feel that women will benefit from their advice and love of birth and the birthing woman. :).

We hope this becomes a safe, warm place to seek advice from women and men who have have been there, and to talk with fellow moms and dads and to discuss fears and joys of your own experiences.

So if you're looking for advice on how to prepare for your birth, and achieve the birth of your dreams at home or in the hospital, pull up a chair and introduce yourself! Please keep in mind that this is a gentle board...so respect each other!
