hey ladies. Found out a few days ago that I am pregnant! yay!
I am just really disappointed because I don't have insurance and Dr Dickerson does not take patients who pay out of pocket. SO sad about this. Does anybody know any other Doctors in the area that are warm towards natural birth. My last dr was not and I am not going through that again. Please let me know! Thanks! |

Congrats!!!!
I don't have insurance and Dr Dickerson does not take patients who pay out of pocket. Are you sure about this? My sister in law went to him for her last pregnancy. Granted the baby is now 8 months old, so he could have changed, but she did not have insurance and did pay completely out of pocket. He had a set fee that included all prenatal visits, all necessary ultrasounds, and a vaginal birth. The only reason she would be charged extra was if she needed to see MFM or had a c-section or something that was "out of the ordinary". She was set up on a payment plan because she had to be paid in full by a certain point in her pregnancy. The hospital of course was a totally different story, but she did go to Dickerson. I guess there's a chance he's since changed, but being just 8 month ago....I'd ask, ask, and ask again! Congrats again....I hope you have a smooth, easy pregnancy! |

well, in that case we may go with Baton Rouge General. It is cheaper by about 300.00. I tried to get ahold of the financial advisor for the new birthing center for oschner but after being transferred about 15 times I gave up.
Does anyone know of any doctors that support natural child birth at baton rouge general? |

First of all, congrats on the pregnancy! Secondly, I am 35 weeks pregnant today and my husband lost his job 2 weeks ago. As a result we lost our insurance. I signed up for LaMOMs (Medicaid) and the Midwives at Ochsner are accepting it. The hospital is also taking it. So you might want to look into that. I had called the Ochsner business office before the unit opened to find out what their charges were for a reg un-medicated delivery and they were still trying to nail down that info.
