Is there any place in BR to be fitted for a nursing bra? If not in BR maybe Lafayette or NO area? I heard there might be a place in Mandeville. Anyone know what that is called? Thanks!

in Mandeville there is the Bra Genie or in Covington Bosom Babies. Bosom Babies is a breastfeeding boutique. The owner is also a lactation consultant.

Did you try the boutique at woman's? I know they have a lot of bf stuff there...

I don't know if destination maternity does fittings.. i would think they would.. they are very helpful there, you could probably call and find out if they do or not.

I can't wait to take on the Bravado Bra Line. I promise when I do my company will have its own little nursing bra specialist you can turn to. My goal is to have this available within two years. Until then, please let me know how Karen of Bosom Babies is so I can refer people to her!!

All we have in Lafayette is JC Pennys, and although they have a huge selection the women dont know much about nursing bras and how a woman changes after birth! LOL

I got "fitted" at destination maternity and they told me I was between an E and F...not so helpful.

I ordered a bra from break out bras and it's great. There was some good chatter about them on the LLL site so I tried it out. I ordered a nursing bra, but they also carry regular bras and swimwear. Some of the bras are really pretty, even the nursing ones. I followed their instructions for measuring and was way off on my size. So much so that I was skeptical about the bra fitting so i wore it with the tags for a few hours just in case it didn't work out. Well, it's amazing and the size i ordered based on their measuring instructions is right on for my size-able ladies and far off from what i had been wearing. They carry some pretty big sizes too!

At the last Exceptional Birth Group meeting on Monday, we discussed the challenges of finding a GOOD nursing bra that FITS!!! One of the biggest problems most new Moms face is finding a place that can properly size a bra after you have the baby. Like I said at the group, I spent hundreds of dollars and have a drawer full of bras of ALL sizes and brands that do not fit because I was not properly sized.

I called Total Woman Boutique here in Baton Rouge. They are a store in town that does professional bra fittings for women. The have a focus on women who have undergone mastectomy due to breast cancer and have new needs in terms of finding a properly sized bra for prosthesis. However, I am VERY HAPPY to report that they are also able to help women looking to be sized for a nursing bra. The woman I talked to was excited to hear about us discussing this need in town and she said they are happy to help. Their fittings are FREE and she said they have some nursing bras in stock and can help you order the right ones for you if they do not have your size in stock.

A good fitting bra can be tremendous help to the nursing Mom and a good initial investment will save you much money and hassle down the road...TRUST ME!! This will be a great resource to women here so please share this information and it is a much better alternative to Destination Maternity fittings!
