Are you pregnant and interested in participating in a research study?
If so, the Division of Human Nutrition and Food at Louisiana State University needs your help in conducting a study to evaluate eye health in pregnant women as it relates to daily fish intake. It is recommended that pregnant women get at least 2-3 servings of fish a week, which equals to about 12 ounces a week. Qualifying women should be between the ages of 18-40 years, not smoke or drink alcohol, have no current eye disease and must have transportation to Louisiana State University. A free dietary assessment of nutrient intake and a $65 check at the end of the study will be given to each participant For questions or interest in participation please contact Ann Shaw email: ashaw8@lsu.edu or phone: 225-578-7160. |

Just a note, I called for this but am to far along in my pregnancy. They want to see you for your first evaluation between 18-23 weeks. They do have a different study that they are doing for new breastfeeding moms as well. You can call the same number that Amy listed for the eye health study to get the info on breastfeeding study. And you will need to call before you deliver because they need to see if you are eligible first. Then they will collect a milk sample from you at 2, 6, 10, 12 weeks to analyze the fat content in the milk. They are trying to see if mom's with gestational diabetes have less fat in their milk than mom's w/o gestational diabetes. They offer nutritional counseling and will give you a check for $85 dollars at the end of the study.
